Today was a Monday, February 10, first day of another busy school week, and the halls of the World Academy were starting to get eventful. Students kept filling the campus, some were already roaming the school hallways, and others were discussing their weekend with friends. There were couples who were enthusiastic about planning their respective dates too. It was not an astonishment though, because four days from now it’s Valentine’s Day.
“He said it’s a surprise. I bet it’ll be sweeter than what he did last year, I can’t wait!”
_______ rolled her eyes at the overly zealous, giggling group of girls she just passed by. She could never understand the enthusiasm of the female student body every Valentine’s. For all its worth, couples could enjoy each other’s company any day they prefer, so why was heart’s day an exceptional one?
‘Or maybe I just can’t understand because I’m single’ She thought
Yes, _______’s single. She was not even in a mutual relationship right now, but it did not bother her. For _______, relationship is not simply an attachment you make or a personified experiment you craft with your significant other out of mere curiosity.
“Relationship yields commitment, it requires responsibility” She muttered to herself
_______ stopped her tracks when she reached her locker. She set her backpack on the floor before toggling the number combination needed to open the compartment. She rummaged inside and took all the stuff crucial for the first half of her class.
“Let’s see; English, Chemistry, World Hist-“
_______ ceased when an unfamiliar white rigid envelope fell from her locker. She took it from the ground and examined it closely, the package was light and nothing was written on it. Slowly, she opened the covering and found three letter cut-outs in it, two were green (B - E) and one was red (O).
“B - E - O?” she was perplexed
She peeked inside the envelope expecting to find something that would meet to her confusion. But the note she found made her more baffled.
There will be more tomorrow! Once you got all the letters, assemble them in correct order.
P.S. Please do not panic, I swear I’m not a stalker. T^T
-- Mr. Orange
“Mr. Orange? He said he’s not a stalker but he knew my number combination” She shrugged
Should she change her locker combination? Should she inform it to the principal? _______ was having doubts. Of course she was frightened (the man found out her locker password!), but she was curious too. There were cut-out letters and she was eager to know what it would spell.
Silently, she weighed all her options and, after a few minutes, decided to give it a shot.
‘If something suspicious happens, then I’ll inform the principal’ she mused
Her thoughts were cut-off when the school bell resonated through the halls. She hastily tidied her things in her backpack, including the package she received, closed her locker and went to her first class.
------- February 11 -------
The next day, _______ went to school earlier in hopes of seeing Mr. Orange caught in the act of violating the confidentiality of her private property, but she knew she failed when she acquired another rigid envelope inside her locker. She sighed and opened its sealed flap, it contained more cut-out letters: green L - D - I - W and a red N. Along with the letters were a note, she read it.
Here’s another set! More will be delivered tomorrow! Hehe.
-- Mr. Orange
“Seriously, why can’t he give all the letters at the same time?!” She groaned, exasperated
She glared at the package until she decided it was time to disregard the inquisitiveness she felt. She organized her locker, arranged her things in her backpack and retreated to her first class.
------- February 12 -------
And Wednesday came. As expected, _______ received a package from Mr. Orange today. She plummeted to her seat the moment she reached English class.
“You seem knotty” Lukas Bondevik mumbled
_______ gawked at the quiet Norwegian for a while then took all the cut-out letters in her bag and slumped them on his desk, Lukas did not seem to mind. Despite his reclusive nature, Lukas was _______’s friend; though, sometimes, she wonder how it happened.
“I’ve been getting this cut-outs for some time now and I am so keen in knowing what words it would produce!” She blurted
“Today, I received green letters E - R - G - N - I - Y - L and a red letter T but the note said there’ll still be more tomorrow”
_______ crossed her arms and pouted as Lukas scrutinized all the letters. Half a minute later, Lukas’ hand started moving…
BE…
WILD…
“Wha-?!” _______ clamored, halting whatever Lukas was doing.
“Be wild…” She started, her eyes darting over the remaining green cut-out letters left untouched by his friend.
“lingery (lingerie)?! Mr. Orange is a pervert!” _______ exclaimed
Lukas looked at her weirdly and immediately corrected her.
“Lingerie is not spelled like that, for someone who excels in English… really _______”
“Well, I’m sorry” _______ huffed
Lukas shrugged his shoulder and continued arranging the green letters until they formed the word…
“BEWILDERINGLY… Wow Lukas, you’re smart! I didn’t know they can be arranged like that. I guess the red letters could be…”
_______ arranged them to: NOT
“Bewilderingly not? That’s still confusing though” she said, disappointed
“Who is Mr. Orange anyway?” Lukas asked in his usual seemingly bored tone
_______ gathered all the cut-out letters and put it back inside her bag.
“I don’t know, probably someone who’s wearing an orange…” she scanned the whole room, her eyes laid on Tino Väinämöinen.
“Maybe Tino?”
Lukas gazed at the gentle Finnish whose orange shirt was visible underneath his uniform. He then looked back at _______.
“Or maybe it was Antonio, he’s wearing an orange” He murmured
_______ glanced up at Lukas and opened her mouth to speak, but the school bell rang. They both straightened themselves in their seats. Though, _______ stole a glimpse at the Spaniard at the other side of the classroom before doing so. And she realized his friend was right, only, the shirt Antonio was wearing underneath his unbuttoned uniform was a white shirt with an orange fruit design at the center.
------- February 13 -------
The class thought it was a lucky Thursday, their English teacher was absent sick and there was no substitute who filled-in for him. Noise were everywhere and the students were doing whatever they wanted. _______ placed the cut-out letters on her desk. She finally got the last remaining letters and she was very fervent on deciphering the sentence all the letters would make.
“What do you think, Lukas” She queried, seeking help from her Norwegian friend
Lukas examined the new cut-outs, they were green O - Y - U - M - I - R - F - L - ? and a red I.
“Well, it’s an interrogative sentence” He stated, showing the green cut-out ? near her face.
“Oh, what a surprise” She implied sarcastically, lightly smacking his hand.
Lukas ignored her and analyzed all the cut-out letters. Moments later, he started assembling the green ones.
WILL…
YOU…
BE…
MY…
GIRLFRIEND?
_______ read the sentence Lukas decoded and her orbs went wide like saucers.
“L-Lukas, are you sure the letters say something like that? Y-You know, that might be just a coincidence, there’s probably another question inside there” she stuttered astounded and a bit embarrassed
“No, that’s the only question that can be constructed with the green cut-outs” the Norwegian confirmed
_______’s face flushed.
“W-Well, then I guess the red ones is the real name of Mr. Orange?” she breathed, trying to collect herself.
She gathered the red letters…
O - I - N – T
And arranged them accordingly.
TINO
“So Mr. Orange really is Tino--”
“Actually…” A voice came from behind her.
A hand appeared over her shoulder. _______ stared as the hand reached out for the red letters and placed them according to their correct order.
TONI
“Toni… Toni?” she thought deeply
She suddenly remembered the conversation she had with Lukas yesterday.
“Or maybe it was Antonio, he’s wearing an orange”
_______ gasped and glanced up at Lukas only to see him passively eyeing the person behind her. She spun to her seat and turned her head…
It was Antonio Fernandez Carriedo, wearing his orange fruit designed white shirt, the cheerful and passionate Spaniard whom was nicknamed “Toni” by his friends.
“Hola _______, Lukas” He greeted, a huge grin plastered to his face
Lukas muttered a “hi” before languidly looking away to doodle on his notebook instead. You on the other hand asked the only question which was currently wandering in your mind.
“Why Mr. Orange? I thought you’re a tomato person.”
Antonio ogled at her oddly, but he instantly returned the smile to his features when he realized it was a serious question.
“You’ll immediately find out it’s me if it’s Mr. Tomato, besides, orange is round… like tomatoes!” He answered enthusiastically
______ giggled, finding Antonio’s jovial personality charming. Toni cleared his throat, she ceased her cackles when she noticed him eyeing the cut-out letters he created.
“Oh” She stammered, he was waiting for her answer.
_______ pondered for a while, she deliberately took two letters from the cut-outs and handed them to Antonio. And he frowned.
NO
“It’s a no then?” He stared at the ground, down-casted
_______ softly laughed and shook her head.
“Actually, I just can’t spell YES with these letters, there’s no S among them…” she asserted
Antonio's head shot up, the optimistic spark back in his emerald green orbs.
“Well, it’s technically not a ‘yes’ either. We still don’t know each other that well…”
_______ stood-up to completely face him. She beamed at him before tip-toeing to bring her lips to his cheek. Toni’s cheeks flushed a faint red color.
“So… Tomorrow, after school at Café Italia. Is that okay?” she suggested
Antonio seemed in a daze, a hand was on his cheek where _______ had kissed.
“Toni?” She called
“O-Oh, si… Si! Tomorrow at Café Italia. My treat!” He finally responded
“Really? I’m looking forward to it then!” She smiled at him
The whole class went to their respective places the moment the school bell rang. First period was over, it was finally their Chemistry class. _______ scurried to her seat, the grin never leaving her face. For the first time in the whole while, she was actually excited about Valentine’s. Maybe heart’s day was an exceptional day after all.
But wait…

"Actually, I just can't spell YES with these letters, there's no S among them" -- It felt like I made reader-chan such a troll (xD), I'm sorry. hehe
This is a Valentine fic that just popped right out of my head. And I think it's the longest oneshot I ever made. This was 9 or 10 pages longer in word and it's 1,600 plus words long... I was actually surprised with myself.
Now, Spain is the main hetalian in this story because I love him I can scramble his nickname to another hetalian's human name.
I tried my best to make the scenes in this fic somehow realistic, did I pull it off? I'd love to know what you think. Please do comment!
